AWS Certified Solutions Architect — Associate (SAA-C02)
The AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-C02) is one of the most sought-after cloud certifications globally, validating the ability to design distributed systems on Amazon Web Services. This associate-level credential demonstrates that you can design resilient, high-performing, secure, and cost-optimized architectures using AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and CloudFront.
The exam covers four domains: Design Resilient Architectures (30%), Design High-Performing Architectures (28%), Design Secure Applications and Architectures (24%), and Design Cost-Optimized Architectures (18%). Candidates need to understand AWS Well-Architected Framework principles, multi-tier application design, auto-scaling, load balancing, disaster recovery strategies, and AWS storage classes.
Passage of SAA-C02 demonstrates real-world ability to select appropriate AWS services based on business requirements, estimate costs, and identify performance bottlenecks. The exam consists of 65 questions (multiple choice and multiple response) with a 130-minute time limit and a minimum passing score of 720/1000. It is recommended to have at least one year of hands-on experience designing available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on AWS before attempting this exam.
