Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
The Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification is the official entry point into the Microsoft Azure cloud ecosystem. Designed for both technical and non-technical professionals, it validates foundational knowledge of cloud concepts, core Azure services, security, privacy, compliance, and pricing models. Candidates are expected to understand the difference between IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, as well as Azure's global infrastructure — regions, availability zones, and resource groups.
The exam covers six main domains: Cloud Concepts (20–25%), Azure Architecture and Services (35–40%), Azure Management and Governance (30–35%), Security and Compliance features, Cost Management, and the Azure Marketplace. There are no prerequisites — this certification is ideal for beginners exploring cloud computing or business stakeholders who need to communicate with technical teams.
Passing AZ-900 demonstrates that you understand what Microsoft Azure can offer and provides a strong foundation for pursuing associate-level certifications such as AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), AZ-204 (Azure Developer), or AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect). The exam consists of 40–60 questions (multiple choice, drag-and-drop, and scenario-based) with a passing score of 700/1000, and lasts 45 minutes.
